About Troop 964
Boy Scout Troop 964 is sponsored by the First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City, Dale City, Virginia. Troop 964 is part of the Occoquan District, National Capital Area Council.
The Troop is comprised of approximately 55 boys in various patrols. Assistant Scoutmasters are assigned to each patrol as advisors. The troop is governed by the Troop Committee which is composed of interested adults who oversee the operation and safety of the troop.
Troop 964 stresses activities run by and for the Scouts. The real running of the troop is by the youth leaders with adult guidance. Each patrol is run by a Patrol Leader and an Assistant Patrol Leader. Each of these Scouts must be trained and is responsible for running many of the troop functions. The Senior Patrol Leader leads the troop with the advice of the Scoutmasters. Scouts in leadership positions meet in the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) once a month to plan troop events.
Troop 964 provides young men with positive, enriching, wholesome activities and opportunities for outdoor adventure and leadership. Some activities we have experienced include backpacking in Shenandoah National Park, canoeing on the Shenandoah River, whitewater rafting, hiking Civil War battlefields, skiing in West Virginia, and biking on the C&O Canal towpath. We go to summer camp every year. In addition our Scouts participate in many community service projects throughout the year.
The Troop meets every Tuesday from 7:15 pm until 8:45 pm, in the First United Presbyterian Church located at the corner of Minnieville Road and Cardinal Drive in Dale City.
